Neem

I just wanted to pop in and give a quick review of my experience with the Bhringaraj oil and the neem paste:).

What I did was apply the Bhringaraj oil to my scalp just before bed. I put my timer on and massaged it in for 10 minutes. The smell was interesting - not bad, but not really all that wonderful either - sort of "exotic" - for lack of a better word.

The Bhringaraj oil ingredients are:

Coconut Oil, Maka, Amla, Brahmi, Mehendi, Pudina Phool, bawchi, Chandan, Dantimool, Ghawla, Ghodawaj, Jatamasi, Jivanti Patra, Kapoorkachli, Kapoor, Methi, Rose, Shankhawali, Wala.

There is no mineral in it, and that makes me extremely happy!!  I think there are other brands of Bhringaraj oil out there, so if you don't want mineral in your products  make sure you read the label before you purchase. The Hesh Bhringaraj oil is made with coconut oil, which means it does tend to solidify, so if you pick some up -don't be surprised if you see bits of solid coconut oil in it, this is normal. If you do see these tiny bits floating in your bottle, don't fret - this just gives you a perfect excuse to dip it in to some warm water and apply it to your scalp while still warm - not hot:)!

After I massaged in the oil, I wrapped my head in a scarf and went to bed. In the morning I created my neem paste with water and neem powder. I used about 2 heaping tablespoons of neem, which was more than enough, and I just kept adding little amounts of water until I liked the consistency.

I applied the neem paste right on top of my oiled scalp,  focusing the paste on my scalp rather than applying it all over my hair. The directions on the box said to leave the paste on for 15 minutes, so that's what I did.

The results: Nice. I think because I only applied the neem to my scalp, I didn't have any issues with dryness. The paste itself rinsed out very easy.  And I also noticed that my shedding was down dramatically with the neem. I think I lost about 3 or 4 hairs, which for me is unheard of:). The one thing I was hoping for, but I didn't get though, was that the neem paste would take care of my itchies.

I really haven't had much of an issue with an itchy scalp since my brahmi application last week some time,  but for some reason on the day I was applying the neem, my scalp did feel a bit itchy, so I was hoping for the same soothing experience that I had with the brahmi powder. Unfortunately, that was not the case. My scalp did not stop itching, and the neem  did not feel as soothing/cooling as the brahmi. Since neem is good for so many of the things that actually cause san itchy scalp in the first place, I'll continue to use it, if only to get some of those benefits. The important thing for me was that my scalp felt clean, my hair did not feel dry, and I had very little shedding, all big pluses. So in my opinion, the neem does seem worth the extra effort.

For my proposed routine, I'm planning to use the bhringaraj oil at least twice a week, but I will only use the neem once a week or maybe once every other week. As my routine continues to develop, I'll be able to make that final determination.

Thanks for reading!

Ciao!!
